Refund & Cancellation Policy

    Last Updated: August 2, 2026

This page is maintained by Athena Consulting Group (ACG) and applies to all subscriptions to the Athena CMMC platform, whether purchased directly or through AWS Marketplace.

    1. Subscription Term & Activation

Athena subscriptions are sold as fixed-term contracts with the term you select at checkout — typically 1, 12, 24, or 36 months for AWS Marketplace contracts, or month-to-month / annual for direct purchases. Subscriptions are generally non-refundable once activated, because Athena begins provisioning a dedicated tenant, ingesting your evidence, and consuming AI processing credits immediately upon activation.

AWS Marketplace contracts auto-renew at the end of the term unless you cancel auto-renewal in the AWS Marketplace console before the renewal date. Direct subscriptions renew according to the cadence shown at checkout.

    2. When Refunds Are Issued

We will issue a full or pro-rated refund in the following circumstances:

    • 7-day satisfaction window. If you activate a new Athena subscription and have not uploaded production CUI or generated an assessor-ready artifact (SSP, SAR, POA&M, eMASS export, or Submission Pack), you may request a full refund within 7 calendar days of activation.
    • Service unavailability. If Athena is unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours within a calendar month due to a fault on our side (excluding scheduled maintenance, AWS regional outages, or customer-caused issues), you may request a pro-rated credit for the affected period.
    • Duplicate or erroneous purchase. If you accidentally purchase the same Athena tier twice, or purchase the wrong tier and have not begun using it, we will refund or transfer the charge within 14 days of the original transaction.
    • Cancellation by ACG. If we terminate your subscription for reasons other than breach of our Terms of Service, we will refund the unused, pro-rated remainder of your contract term.

    3. When Refunds Are Not Issued

    • Mid-term cancellation by the buyer for convenience.
    • Downgrading from a higher tier (e.g., Binder to Pro) mid-term.
    • Failure to use the platform during the contract term.
    • Charges older than 60 days at the time of the request.
    • Subscriptions terminated by ACG for breach of theTerms of Service or acceptable-use policy.

    4. How to Cancel an AWS Marketplace Subscription

Cancellation stops auto-renewal; your Athena tenant remains active through the end of the paid term. Mid-term cancellation does not entitle you to a refund except as described in Section 2.

    1. Sign in to the AWS Console.
    2. Open AWS Marketplace → Manage subscriptions.
    3. Select Athena.
    4. Choose Actions → Cancel subscription, or Modify renewal to turn off auto-renew while keeping access for the remainder of the term.

For direct subscriptions, emailcmmc@athenaconsultinggroup.comwith your tenant identifier and we will process cancellation within 5 business days.

    5. How to Request a Refund

Email cmmc@athenaconsultinggroup.com with the subject line "AWS Marketplace Refund Request" (or "Athena Refund Request"for direct subscriptions) and include:

    • Your AWS Account ID and AWS Marketplace CustomerIdentifier (visible on the Athena activation confirmation screen), or your Athena tenant identifier for direct purchases.
    • The Athena tier and contract duration purchased.
    • The date of purchase.
    • A brief description of the reason for the refund request.

We acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and resolve them within 10 business days. Approved AWS Marketplace refunds are issued back to your AWS account via the standard AWS Marketplace refund process; AWS typically reflects the credit on your next AWS bill within 5–7 business days. Direct refunds are issued to the original payment method.
